Foundational Context

What is the Space Economy?

The space economy encompasses the public and private activity enabled by space infrastructure, including satellites, launch services, Earth observation, communications, navigation, data analytics, finance, legal services, and downstream applications. SEA provides a forum for industry, government, and academia to advance Hong Kong's participation in this strategically important global value chain.

Chairman's Message

Building Hong Kong's Role in the Global Space Economy

Dear Members and Friends,

Hong Kong stands at a unique crossroads — a world-class financial centre, an international city, a gateway to Mainland China, and an innovation hub whose ambitions now reach beyond our atmosphere. SEA was established precisely to ensure that Hong Kong and its professionals are active, prominent participants in the fastest-growing frontier economy of our time.

The NewSpace economy is transforming not just aerospace, but finance, insurance, logistics, telecommunications, agriculture, climate science, and countless other industries. The capital markets expertise concentrated in Hong Kong, combined with our deep connections to Mainland China and the broader Asia-Pacific region, positions us uniquely to be leaders in this transformation.

"The NewSpace economy is not merely about satellites and rockets — it is about data, connectivity, sustainability, finance, and human ambition. SEA exists to connect these dots, and to ensure Hong Kong is at the centre of this conversation."

Over the past years, SEA has proudly built a community of space economy practitioners, educators, investors, and advocates. I am honoured to lead this association and to work with each of you to make our collective vision a reality. The sky, as they say, is no longer the limit.

I warmly invite you to become an active member, participate in our programmes, and help shape the future of Hong Kong's space economy.
